An der HNE Eberswalde ist zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine Postdoktorandenstelle – befristet für fünf Jahre – zu besetzen:

Akademische*r Mitarbeiter*in (Postdoc) – wissenschaftliche Koordination (d/m/w) am Forschungs- und Transferinstitut Planetary Health Landscapes

Forschungs- und Transferinstitute sind departmentübergreifende, profilbildende Strukturen an der HNEE, die forschungsstarke Professor*innen und deren Arbeitsgruppen in themenzentrierten Kooperationsverbünden zusammenführen. Sie schaffen die kritische Masse für hochkompetitive Verbundanträge und fungieren als sichtbare Kristallisationspunkte mit überregionaler Strahlkraft. Durch den strategisch geplanten Austausch mit Gastwissenschaftler*innen und außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen schaffen sie einen Raum für Wissenszuwachs an der HNEE.

Das neu gründendete Planetary Health Landscapes Institute (PHL-I) verankert  departmentübergreifend Natur- und Sozialwissenschaftler*innen thematisch fokussiert in Forschungs- und Transfertätigkeiten rund um das Thema Planetary Health Landscapes zusammen..„Planetary Health Landscapes" wird als ein sozial-ökologischer Forschungs- und Transformationsansatz verstanden, der Zusammenhänge zwischen ökologischer Integrität, menschlichem Wohlergehen und Landnutzungsdynamiken auf der Ebene konkreter Landschaften untersucht und gestaltet. Der Ansatz verbindet interdisziplinäre Forschung mit transformativer Praxis und richtet den analytischen Blick auf strukturelle Treiber ökologischer Degradierung sowie sozialökologische Wechselwirkungen.

Für den Aufbau des Instituts suchen wir eine Postdoktorandin oder einen Postdoktoranden, die oder der die eigene wissenschaftliche Qualifizierung mit der Gestaltung eines neu entstehenden Forschungsfelds verbindet. Die Stelle ist bewusst als Aufbaustelle konzipiert: Sie bietet die Möglichkeit, Leitbild, Forschungsagenda und Forschungsinfrastruktur eines interdisziplinären Instituts von Beginn an mitzuentwickeln, eigene Forschungsschwerpunkte im Feld Planetary Health Landscapes zu setzen und Verbundvorhaben in nationalen und internationalen Förderlinien vorzubereiten. Die Befristung erfolgt nach § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG zum Zweck der eigenen wissenschaftlichen Qualifizierung; das Qualifizierungsziel wird in einer Qualifizierungsvereinbarung festgelegt.

Die Stelle eröffnet ausdrücklich Raum für eigene Forschung. Ein substanzieller Anteil der Arbeitszeit ist für die Entwicklung und Durchführung eines eigenständigen Postdoc-Forschungsprofils im Themenfeld Planetary Health Landscapes vorgesehen. Die wissenschaftliche Koordination des Instituts ist so angelegt, dass sie die eigene Forschung nicht ersetzt, sondern mit ihr verbunden wird: Die Stelleninhaberin bzw. der Stelleninhaber soll eigene Forschungsfragen entwickeln, empirische Arbeiten durchführen, publizieren und Drittmittelvorhaben auch mit eigener wissenschaftlicher Rolle vorbereiten.

Ihre Aufgaben

Eigene wissenschaftliche Arbeit

• Entwicklung und Durchführung eines eigenständigen Postdoc-Forschungsvorhabens im Themenfeld Planetary Health Landscapes
• Aufbau eines eigenen wissenschaftlichen Profils mit klarer Publikationsstrategie
• Publikation eigener Forschungsergebnisse in referierten internationalen Zeitschriften
• Entwicklung eigener Drittmittelanträge bzw. Beteiligung an Verbundvorhaben mit eigener wissenschaftlicher Rolle
• Präsentation der eigenen Forschung auf nationalen und internationalen Fachkonferenzen

Aufbau der wissenschaftlichen Arbeit des Instituts

• Mitentwicklung von Leitbild, Forschungsprogramm und Forschungsagenda des Instituts gemeinsam mit der wissenschaftlichen Leitung und den Gründungsmitgliedern
• Mitentwicklung gemeinsamer, departmentübergreifender Forschungsfragen an der Schnittstelle von Natur- und Sozialwissenschaften; theoretische Rahmung des Ansatzes und Übersetzung in empirisch bearbeitbare Fragestellungen
• Aufbau von Forschungsinstrumenten und Forschungsinfrastruktur gemeinsam mit den Institutsmitgliedern: gemeinsame Daten- und Methodenbasis, Erhebungs- und Analyseinstrumente, landschaftsbezogene Fallstudien und transdisziplinäre Forschungsformate einschließlich der Einbindung bestehender Infrastrukturen der HNEE
• Aufbau der Antragspipeline gemeinsam mit den Institutsmitgliedern: Beobachtung einschlägiger Ausschreibungen, Entwicklung von Skizzen, inhaltliche Koordination von Verbund- und Drittmittelanträgen (insbesondere DFG und EU)
• Aufbau und Pflege wissenschaftlicher Kooperationen mit außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen, internationalen Partnern sowie Akteuren aus Praxis und Verwaltung; Vorbereitung gemeinsamer Berufungen und Fellowships gemeinsam mit den Institutsmitgliedern
• Konzeption und Koordination eines Mentoring- und Qualifizierungsprogramms für die Promovierenden des Instituts gemeinsam mit den Institutsmitgliedern
• Organisation der wissenschaftlichen Formate des Instituts (Institutstreffen, Kolloquien, Werkstattgespräche, Workshops) sowie Beiträge zur wissenschaftlichen Sichtbarkeit des Instituts
• Mitwirkung an Arbeitsplanung, Prioritätensetzung und Meilensteinmonitoring in Abstimmung mit der wissenschaftlichen Leitung; die administrative und finanzielle Umsetzung erfolgt durch die Administrationsstelle des Instituts und die zuständigen Verwaltungseinheiten

Lehre

• Eigenständige Lehre im Umfang von 2 LVS mit Bezug zu den Themenfeldern des Instituts
• Betreuung von Abschlussarbeiten im Institutskontext

Anforderungen

• Sie haben ein wissenschaftliches Hochschulstudium sowie eine Promotion mit Bezug zu den benannten Institutszielen und -inhalten erfolgreich mit gutem bis sehr gutem Ergebnis abgeschlossen.
• Sie haben sehr gute Kenntnisse und ausgewiesene fachliche Expertise im Themengebiet.
• Sie haben nachgewiesene Erfahrung in der selbstständigen wissenschaftlichen Arbeit und verfügen über Publikationen in referierten internationalen Zeitschriften.
• Sie haben Erfahrung in der Beantragung von Drittmittelprojekten.
• Sie bringen Erfahrungen in der quantitativen und/oder qualitativen empirischen Forschung mit.
• Sie haben Erfahrung in inter- und/oder transdisziplinärer Forschung.
• Sie verfügen über einen sicheren Umgang mit Software zur quantitativen und/oder qualitativen Datenanalyse (z. B. R, Python, Stata, SPSS, MAXQDA).

Senior Researcher (PostDoc) (m/f/d) at the Planetary Health Landscapes Research and Transfer Institute

Research and Transfer Institutes are cross-departmental, profile-defining structures at HNEE that bring together research-intensive professors and their research groups into theme-centred collaborative networks. They create the critical mass required for highly competitive collaborative grant applications and act as visible focal points with a supra-regional impact. Through strategically planned exchanges with visiting scholars and non-university research institutions, they create a space for the growth of knowledge at HNEE.

The newly established Planetary Health Landscapes Institute (PHL-I) brings together natural and social scientists from across departments to engage in research and knowledge transfer activities centred on the theme of Planetary Health Landscapes. ‘Planetary Health Landscapes’ is understood as a socio-ecological research and transformation approach that examines and shapes the interrelationships between ecological integrity, human well-being and land-use dynamics at the level of specific landscapes. The approach combines interdisciplinary research with transformative practice and focuses its analytical attention on the structural drivers of ecological degradation as well as socio-ecological interactions.

To help establish the institute, we are hiring a postdoctoral researcher who can combine their own academic development with the shaping of a newly emerging field of research. The position is intentionally designed as a founding position: It offers the opportunity to help shape the mission statement, research agenda, and research infrastructure of an interdisciplinary institute from the very beginning, to establish one’s own research priorities within the field of Planetary Health Landscapes, and to prepare collaborative projects for national and international funding programs. The fixed-term appointment is granted in accordance with Section 2(1) of the German Act on Fixed-Term Academic Employment (WissZeitVG) for the purpose of the appointee’s own academic development; the development goals are specified in a development agreement.

The position explicitly provides space for independent research. A substantial portion of working hours is earmarked for the development and implementation of an independent postdoctoral research profile in the field of Planetary Health Landscapes. The institute’s academic coordination is structured in such a way that it does not replace the holder’s own research but is integrated with it: The position holder is expected to develop their own research questions, conduct empirical studies, publish, and prepare grant proposals—including those in which they play a scientific role.

Your tasks

Independent Research

• Development and implementation of an independent postdoctoral research project in the field of Planetary Health Landscapes
• Establishing your own research profile with a clear publication strategy
• Publishing your own research findings in peer-reviewed international journals
• Developing your own grant proposals or participating in collaborative projects with your own research role
• Presenting your own research at national and international conferences 

Development of the Institute’s scientific work

• Collaborate in developing the institute’s mission statement, research program, and research agenda together with the academic leadership and founding members
• Collaborate in developing joint, cross-departmental research questions at the intersection of the natural and social sciences; provide a theoretical framework for the approach and translate it into empirically testable research questions
• Develop research tools and research infrastructure together with institute members: A common data and methodological foundation, data collection and analysis tools, landscape-based case studies, and transdisciplinary research formats, including the integration of existing HNEE infrastructures
• Developing the grant proposal pipeline in collaboration with institute members: monitoring relevant calls for proposals, developing proposal outlines, and coordinating the content of collaborative and third-party funding proposals (particularly the DFG and the EU)
• Establishing and maintaining scientific collaborations with non-university research institutions, international partners, and stakeholders from practice and administration; preparing joint appointments and fellowships in collaboration with institute members
• Designing and coordinating a mentoring and training program for the institute’s doctoral candidates in collaboration with institute members
• Organizing the institute’s academic events (institute meetings, colloquia, workshop discussions, workshops) and contributing to the institute’s academic visibility
• Participating in work planning, priority setting, and milestone monitoring in consultation with the academic leadership; administrative and financial implementation is carried out by the institute’s administrative office and the relevant administrative units 

Teaching

• Independent teaching equivalent to 2 LVS related to the Institute’s research areas
• Supervision of theses within the context of the Institute

Requirements

• You have successfully completed a university degree in a scientific subject and a PhD relevant to the Institute’s stated objectives and content, achieving good to very good results.
• You have very good knowledge and proven specialist expertise in the subject area.
• You have proven experience in independent academic work (e.g. academic publications, presentations, project work) and in applying for third-party funded projects.
• You have experience in quantitative and/or qualitative empirical research.
• You have a good working knowledge of MS Office, as well as knowledge and experience of statistical software (e.g. Stata, R, Python, SPSS). 
• You have experience in planning, organising and managing project tasks, and carry these out in a structured and reliable manner.
• You have a very good command of German (at least level C1 according to the CEFR) and English (at least level B2 according to the CEFR).

Desiberale

• Experience in supervising final-year dissertations
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Confident use of digital tools for collaboration and documentation (e.g. MS365/Nextcloud, project management tools, data/document storage systems); excellent documentation and minute-taking skills.  Willingness to travel on business
• Excellent project and process management skills (time/milestone planning, prioritisation, risk/issue management, monitoring of key performance indicators).
• Experience in building and maintaining networks (academia, industry, administration) as well as organising workshops, colloquia, fellowships and institute-wide events. Knowledge of science communication and visibility initiatives (e.g. web/profile texts, internal updates, event formats).
